A Clear Roadmap for SAP S/4HANA at STÖBER

Preliminary Roadmap Study for the Migration from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA

01

The Customer

STÖBER Antriebstechnik is an internationally active family-owned company specializing in drive technology with locations around the world. It develops components and systems for industrial applications.

02

The Challenge

Organically developed ERP structures, numerous customizations, and fragmented processes made it difficult to achieve harmonization, integration, and a clear focus on SAP S/4HANA.

03

The Solution

GAMBIT developed a roadmap for SAP S/4HANA, analyzed the system landscape, and evaluated transformation options based on strategic interviews and structured criteria.

04

The Benefit to Customers

STÖBER gained a solid basis for decision-making regarding the transformation, as well as transparency regarding the costs, risks, and benefits of the SAP S/4HANA implementation.

GAMBIT guided us through the decision-making process in a structured manner.

Heterogeneous Processes and System Landscape

Heterogeneous Processes and System Landscape

STÖBER Antriebstechnik sought to strategically evolve its existing ERP landscape and lay a solid foundation for the implementation of SAP S/4HANA.

Systems that had evolved over the years, customizations, and heterogeneous process structures led to increasing complexity. This made it difficult to harmonize processes and further develop the IT landscape in an international context.

At the same time, demands for transparency, integration, and efficiency were increasing—particularly in the interaction between different locations, business units, and system environments. Against this backdrop, the central task was to create a sound basis for decision-making regarding the future transformation.

Preliminary Roadmap Study for the Migration from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA

GAMBIT supported STÖBER as part of a comprehensive preliminary roadmap program (preliminary study for SAP S/4HANA). The goal was to conduct a structured analysis of the existing system landscape and systematically evaluate potential transformation options.

Structured Analysis and Management Involvement

Structured Analysis and Management Involvement

A key component was a series of strategic interviews with management and key functional departments. These provided insights into current challenges, organizational conditions, and future requirements for the target system landscape.

Based on this, various transformation approaches were developed and compared. Particular focus was placed on comparing a brownfield approach—which is based on a technical conversion of the existing systems—with a greenfield approach, which involves a new implementation of SAP S/4HANA.

With a GAMBIT roadmap program, you get facts instead of empty phrases. Strategy instead of guesswork. And confidence in your decisions from day one—from choosing an operating model to costs and methodology.

The evaluation was conducted based on clearly defined criteria. In addition to technological considerations, the assessment also took into account the impact on business processes, organizational changes, risks, and economic factors. This comprehensive analysis provided a transparent overview of the various options.

It became apparent that a purely technical approach would largely perpetuate existing complexities. A greenfield approach, on the other hand, offers better conditions for standardizing and harmonizing processes, as well as for leveraging SAP best practices.

The roadmap study has shown how important it is to take a holistic view of IT, processes, and strategic goals.
