GAMBIT Turns 30!
Troisdorf, March 11, 2025 – The SAP consulting firm GAMBIT Consulting from Troisdorf near Cologne will celebrate its 30th anniversary on April 1, 2025. Founded in 1995 as a spin-off from HT Troplast, the company has grown into a leading SAP partner with around 250 employees and locations in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Turkey.
GAMBIT’s roots go back to the Troisdorf-based company HT Troplast, which had already been using SAP software in the 1970s. HT Troplast was part of the RAG subsidiary Rütgers AG and operated under the name Hüls Troisdorf AG until 1994. When the company transitioned from mainframes to decentralized servers in the mid-1990s, a spin-off was established on April 1, 1995—marking the birth of GAMBIT Consulting.
“At the time, ten of us came together to found GAMBIT, a company specializing from the start in SAP ERP implementation and SAP consulting,” explains founder and GAMBIT managing director Thomas Pasquale. ERP software enables companies of all sizes to manage their entire business processes—from finance and production to sales. Today, SAP is Europe’s largest software company by revenue and one of the world’s leading software providers.
Award-Winning Employer
Many of the original ten founders are still with the company today, including Axel Gerlach, Dr. Jürgen Moll, Toni Munoz, Thomas Pasquale, Renate Songne, and Dr. Marie-Louise Stolzenwald. “This long-standing team spirit is proof that over 30 years, we have done many things right and created a workplace where people can thrive and feel at home,” says Thomas Pasquale.
GAMBIT has received more than a dozen awards in recent years for its corporate and workplace culture—most recently in 2024 from the research and consulting institute Great Place to Work in the categories “Germany’s Best Employers,” “Best Employers in IT & Communications,” and “Best Employers in North Rhine-Westphalia.”
Strong Growth and International Presence
Not only has the number of employees grown significantly since the founding, but the company has also expanded internationally. In addition to its headquarters in Troisdorf-Spich, GAMBIT has locations in three other countries: a Swiss office was opened in 2014, followed by offices in Austria and Turkey in 2024.
In recent years, GAMBIT has executed multi-year SAP major projects for internationally active clients across a wide range of industries—including SPAR Austria, automotive supplier thyssenkrupp Dynamic Components, Messe Düsseldorf, agribusiness company BayWa, Swiss aircraft manufacturer Pilatus, and GNS, one of its first clients from 1996.
GAMBIT will celebrate its 30th anniversary in early April with a company event in Troisdorf, attended by employees from across Europe. “We are incredibly proud of everything we have achieved in the past 30 years,” says managing director Thomas Pasquale. “Even more, we are excited about the successes still to come. With the transition of many corporations and mid-sized companies to cloud solutions and the use of artificial intelligence, we certainly won’t run out of topics anytime soon.”
